Graham Lynch : Sound Sketches.
Lyrical and dazzling miniatures.
These Sound Sketches pieces were composed to give early and intermediate level
pianists the change to engage with a rich and evocative harmonic sound world. As
much of the easier piano repertoire centres on the baroque and classical periods
Graham wanted to write pieces that drew on the language of later composers,
including Debussy and Satie, as well as tango, jazz, and other idioms.
The Sound Sketches series contains many varied pieces, each one opening up an
imaginative world of colours and textures that are a delight to both listen to
and to play. The music is reflective, fun, dazzling, melancholic, enigmatic, and
always surprising in its invention and beauty.
These recordings are a selection of the pieces drawn from the books.
"Sound Sketches contains many beautiful and unusual melodies..."
(Clavier Companion USA)
"I can't recommend these pieces highly enough..."

"I find it hard to over-praise this accessible and vibrantly conceived
selection...what is special here is that Lynch succeeds triumphantly in realising
his noble ambition of writing relatively easy music that has substance."
