ABOUT THE MUSIC
This music is still - the movement is slow and gentle and has an innate tranquillity and slowness. In our sometimes overwhelmingly busy and stressful lives, Still Waters creates a quiet haven of serenity, a cool spring of peacefulness where your weary body and beleaguered spirit can be restored and feel refreshed. Some pieces have a slow, rocking movement, reminiscent of a mother rocking her child. Others are circular, returning to a familiar theme. Some have a deliberately slow tempo, to lower the heartbeat and blood pressure. Others make use of a 'pivot note' - one note around which others move - with the analogy of one steady point from which we take our bearings.

Keri Newdigate says: "I like to think of some of the pieces as tone poems, where there is a simple melody, but the music is atmospheric and has a sense of narrative. There are some intervals which almost have a physical effect on me, eg octaves. They make me feel strong and connected to myself. When I use other intervals like the fourth or fifth, it feels 'pure' to me, as well as stable and solid, as if standing on firm ground. "I love to sit and meander musically at the piano, listening to the overtones of the piano, and allowing the music to be 'called out' of me. As I explore intervals and tone combinations, a musical motif often arises, and I follow it to see what emerges.

My compositions usually surface organically, especially when I am 'tuned in' to the piano, and my soul is engaged in the listening process. In this state of flow and contemplation, I often feel deeply spiritually restored and refreshed and am aware of a sense of inner healing taking place. "I like to think that my music will assist lateral thinking, that there would be a sense of spaciousness, an opportunity to 'go anywhere', to allow the mind to float where it will and take you on an inner journey. The music is not meant to interrupt or interfere with the flow of thought, but to enhance your experience and create a sense of peace."

SOOTHE YOUR CHILD
Mothers have used it to calm their children. Cindy says "we always use it at the end of the day when we're driving home. It helps the children to chill". Kerryn and Sunelle, both Music Therapists, used it to settle their children down to sleep at night. Kerryn: "This CD was my lifeline! I used it almost every night (and day) for the first 2 years of my son's life. It is the most peaceful bedtime music... and best of all, it is not electronic! It soon became his sleep association and after a long day, it was soothing for me too! It is now my baby shower gift of choice."

Sunelle: "The music on Still Waters became a very special part of the bedtime routine with my baby, Ben. The beautiful music contributed to creating a calm and soothing atmosphere - perfect for settling a baby. Even today, at 18 months, Ben still loves the music. It takes both of us back to that very special time and it has become our special music to cuddle to."
