Kene : Kene.
Gloomy, dazzling dark-pop.
Kene is a singer and songwriter from Estonia. Her music is written
together with producer Ervin Trofimov from post-rock outfit Opium Flirt.
Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves called Kene`s music as a noir
alternative that meets finno-ugric joik chant. Many critics and melomans
say that it is like Pj Harvey doing collaboration with Patty Smith .
My music is gloomy and dazzling. I like to call it dark-pop.
Kene has done many different projects before, like: punk-rock band Depoo
(2003-2007); electronical-pop band Mimicry (2006-2012); collaborations
with many artist from Estonia (Genka, Kali Briis etc).
Over the last ten years she has had many concerts in all big festivals in
Estonia, including Tallinn Music Week, Eurovision finals and Estonian Pop
Idols finals, winning hearts as one of the most unique performer. Her gigs
abroad: England, Denmark, Finland, Latvia (Positivus festival, Summer
Sound), Lithuania.
Kene is a solo project, started after leaving the Mimicry in 2012 to focus
more on her own songs. She started working together with Ervin Trofimov,
who gladly joined as a producer. They have released three songs and three
videos in 2013, more work is waiting to be published in June 2014.
Music can be dark, but you can never escape from the light.
