Jeni Melia : Sister Awake - music only.
Elizabethan lute and folk song.
Soprano Jeni Melia and lutenist Christopher Goodwin perform Elizabethan-era songs specifically chosen to reveal what a woman's life was like in that time. Melia's crystal clear voice is perfectly suited to the simple, pared down production style, bringing a vibrancy and immediacy to the selections. On the full version, Kathryn Hamilton-Hall contributes some readings of Elizabethan era poetry, including some verses ascribed to the Queen herself. This version of the album omits these readings found on the full version.
