In case you missed it two weeks ago, I'm re-including Gerard Satamian's 2nd album in this newsletter. Satamian's original pieces remind me of Astor Piazzolla, as both of their music is vastly influenced by Ravel and Debussy, though Satamian takes that influence in an Easterly Direction with influences from Armenian, Jewish and Arabic music. Satamian creates memorable melodies while still being clearly modern in his style, something rare in contemporary classical.
The West Exit's third full-length release continues in their vein of smooth, soulful electro-pop. But the stylistic elements have become more magnified and mature on Extra Century Perception, with bigger beats, soaring melodies, thick harmonies, and more addictive hooks that will get your body moving.
Uncle Pooch releases it's debut album "Conduct Unbecoming" on Magnatune.
This full-length album includes guest appearances by vocalist Kimo Muraki (17th
Chapter) and guitarist RL Heyer (RL Heyer Trio, Flowmotion). It features the
Naked City-esque track "Assault & Battery Acid", and the epic middle-eastern
slammer, "Fallujah".
Description:
classical middle-eastern with excursions into electronica.
With the opening song resembling a beautiful nightmare, Solace's journey into
the minds innermost secrets and insecurities, reveals a subtle musical edge
borrowing on industrial and IDM genres. This prologue gives us a peek into the
structural dynamic and experimental edge to Solace's forth coming CD, "Gorgon
Days". Don't let the subtleties fool you. There is no way to describe Solace's
latest release, just listen.
Do you want to discover a never before heard sound? This album invites you to
take a vivid and vibrant journey across the world of music - without borders or
limits. Using the latest voodoo-studio-technology Andreas Ecker (aka The
Headroom Project) merges hypnotic rhythms with expressive ethno vocals and
hyper-real instruments to create extraordinary music beyond all known genres. Alpine Choirs, Polynesian war-shouts, Mongolian overtone-singers, fragile, morbid and heartbreaking guitar-riffs are only a few of the stations you will pass during
this totally unique musical journey.
This is the second CD from Shawn Harris and a big musical departure from the first CD's acoustic only journey. The music ranges from catchy rock all
the way to Country, R & B, Hard Rock Ballad and classically inspired songs and covers a broad spectrum of different styles along the way. "Echoes of
Autumn" has many top notch studio musicians lending a hand and adding their unique style, and keeping things fresh while expanding the overall
sound. From the opening track of "Sweet Charity" with its catchy pop style all the way to the haunting last track; "Let's Roll" the emotional tribute to
the 9/11 fallen. The music is fresh and the talent is inspired on every track creating a full body of musical experience along the way. This ones a
keeper with a little something for everyone.
The album's title Revelations Per Minute, a play on words from the abbreviation
rpm, as well as the mystic cover art, hint at the cryptic and sometimes fickle
wisdom inside.
The opening track "Miss America" takes a roller-coaster ride
through the American dream, while "Out Of Here Alive" is an anthem for anyone
ever stuck in a hard place. "Hip Parade" pokes a finger at prefab fame and
"Better Believe" proclaims that you can always find the light at the end of the
tunnel, if it's bright enough.
