"The world changed by force. The end was here and we were not ready. In an improvised way, we were prepared for the neonormal, which in newspeak means status quo."
Vate returns with a much more synthetic and hard EP with electro and glitch sounds influenced by Byetone, Atom™ and Mouse on Mars. "The End Was Here" is a reflection on the latest drastic changes in our world and the so-called "new normality"
"In this new production, the EP 'The End Was Here', on his own label, Vate features 5 tracks with a robust electronic flavor. It has the typical harshness of the times we live in: confinement and subjection to unusual restrictions, and the assault of technology on humans."

These are a collection of previously unreleased old songs that have been re-recorded, remixed and remastered, plus a couple of new tracks all recorded during the COVID lockdown period. It was a challenging time for a lot of people for a lot of reasons and so I looked to some old projects for some upbeat inspiration. They were pretty rough tracks that I had put together when I was just starting out in production. I stripped them out, re-recorded most parts, got my son to play bass to help give a more live feel to the music and before I knew it, I had a group of tracks that sounded like a series of 70s Cop Show soundtracks. It provided the spark for some great memories of simpler, happier times. Hope you enjoy.
This pioneering publication of 1735 was dedicated to Handel and probably inspired Bach to compose the Art of Fugue. There are twelve fugues interspersed with several dance-pieces. Mattheson was a very different, attractive character. He was celebrated for his writings, compositions, and for spearheading the musical life of his city of Hamburg. These are fugues for entertainment, not for deep study or development of technique. They are fun to listen to as well as to play, and contain great varieties of mood, from jokey gaiety to soulful introspection. Colin Booth transfers his mastery of fugues by J. S. Bach, to this more playful counterpoint by one of Bach's leading contemporaries.
Description:
Intriguing ambient music telling tales from South Africa
When It Was Now is about capturing the emotions that punctuate periods in our lives. Each song on this album was created to represent moods/feelings/aesthetic influenced by location, events, and, of course, other musical influences at the time. While the songs weren't created to form part of an album, the underlying idea that drove the creation of each song made them a good fit together as an album. There is also a general cohesiveness in the style, with frequent use of samples and field recordings to create drum patterns and an upbeat yet yearning feeling throughout most of the album. By revisiting the ideas that drove the creation of these songs, I have the ability to travel back to I was when I created them. Hopefully these sounds resonate with you as they still do with me.
The album contains the INSTRUMENTAL versions and the UNPLUGGED versions from the original album "Silenzio" by Almaghrib. The lyrics are in Italian with some hints of Sicilian dialect. The sounds draw from a rich palette of genres, united overall by a common pop, roots and rock matrix. The album was produced by Almaghrib and Rudy Pusateri.
