Dreaming and Dancing by Tom Bolton Tom Bolton : Dreaming and Dancing.
Contemporary folk.

Dreaming and Dancing is the latest collection of folk-rock/pop songs coming out of Tom Bolton's long strange journey into music. The dreams are all that we hope for: emotionally, sensually, socially, politically? our aspirations and longings. The dancing is what we do to enact and celebrate these aspirations and longings, and to express delight in their fulfillment or pain in their frustration.

The collaboration between Tom and Nick Charles (the producer) was a leisurely, considerate, respectful conversation... but nonetheless an adventurous one that allowed the arrangements to fly off to wherever it was that the musicians' instincts took them. The musicians came into the studio unsuspecting, not knowing the material at all, from a variety of folk, roots, jazz, rock, pop and classical backgrounds.

There was no plan, only an unfolding of the previously undiscovered, until the album became what it is. At a certain point, as the title track indicates, all the talking is done and the time for words is over. Shall we dance? Let's dance!
